I remember my first thought upon viewing this series - this is way creepy! I'm sure many in the audience feel quite the opposite as these Goops are likely old childhood friends. For those not in the know, the Goops first appeared as part of a series of childrens books by Mr. Burgess - the Goops, of course, serving as example of how children should not behave. And looking at some of those illustrations (from More Goops and How Not to Be Them), I have certainly softened my initial stance; there's a good deal of charm and whimsy on display. I don't think they translate as well to a Sunday strip, but I will readily admit that the results are visually interesting if nothing else...
