Mrs. Dingle’s Diary is a domestic comedy, and it’s easy to see the strip as an extension of the dynamics established in Howarth's Lulu and Leander: pretty and clever woman coupled with excitable and simple fellow. As the title implies, we’re reading from the diary of Mrs. Dingle, and the feminine perspective creates some interesting situations as Mrs. Dingle exerts her will. Through her use of clever machinations, the deluded Mr. Dingle remains clueless as to his secondary status within the home.
