There was a time when Out Our Way was regularly clipped from the paper and stuck to the office bulletin board or taped to the family fridge. In fact, for a while, I believe it boasted to be the most widely clipped strip of any on the comics page. It's not hard to see why, Williams really captures the humanity of his subjects; no doubt many readers connected with particular panels. Out Our Way was a real departure from the usual slapstick, punchline crazy comedy of the comics page - its gentle, observational humor surely connected with folks looking for a little more than just a cheap laugh from their funnies.
